Ministry of International Trade and Industry

MITI Recollective

The economic climate is seeing a downturn but we at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) remain hopeful. Across the globe, numerous sectors are reawakening from a deep slumber that was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before the pandemic struck, we saw the formulation of various policies such as Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint, National Policy on Industry 4.0 and National Automotive Plan, all of which are a collaborative effort between the Government, industry and academia. Though efforts to stimulate the adoption of action plans outlined in these guiding documents were halted in the view of the pandemic,  it is time to relook at these policies and deploy actionable efforts to facilitate economic recovery.

Now more than ever, sustainable development such as  IR 4.0 has a greater potential to resuscitate our economy, improve the quality of life of the population and ensure safety measures are kept in place. Our role remains the same, to usher in more investments into our digital economy and to promote and accelerate the adoption of digitalisation and innovative technologies.

This monthly publication, Recollective, is the Ministry’s initiative to keep track of its progress, ensure full transparency and encourage a more positive outlook as we progress towards a better future.

The Ministry looks forward to the imminent resurgence of industry's growth, trade and investments - hence our cover title - Bouncing Back. We would like to assure all our readers that Malaysia remains an ever fecund ground for the world to do business with or to do business from. Keep reading and feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
